Pool nearly complete!

Today, after being delayed a week, they finally were able to Pebblecrete the swimming pool.  As usual the workmen were there bright and early at 7am and were finished before lunch.

Acid wash tomorrow and then we will be able to fill it!

Just like icing a cake!

Solar Installed

Since moving to Queensland, we have watched with interest the changes in the price of solar installations and also found that there are a number of  'cowboys' out there offering cheap installations but with inferior inverters and panels.

The prices for the 'good' companies started off around the $8000 mark and within a few months dropped dramatically by $2000.

At this price we thought we would be crazy not to go ahead and so today we had our 20 panels and 5 KW Sunnyboy Inverter installed.

Concreting around Pool complete now awaiting tiling

Today we had the concreting around the pool complete ready for tiling.  We have decided to go with a 600 x 600 tile rather than paver so that we can create a seamless transition from the poolside to the water edge.

Moving Day!

We employed Micro Movers to assist us with our move and what a fantastic company to deal with .... reasonably priced, professional and very quick to get the job done!

They were at our rental right on 7am and started loading up.  Craig and I had managed to do a number of loads the day before, trying to get rid of some of the smaller stuff.

I left Craig and the boys to it, took the girls to school and then took a smaller load around to the house. We had a number of trades due that morning - Telstra, the Blind installers, fan repair and appliance delivery so it was all go along with the rendering of the house beginning.

Loading up the Trailer!

Handover!!

Very exciting day!!  ..... which almost didn't happen thanks to the Bank's Valuer insisting that the paint touch ups be completed BEFORE he would sign off.  Luckily we managed to get the painters back and to finish at the 11th hour!

Our hand-over appointment was at 10:00am and just before 10am I was still sitting at the bank .... awaiting the release of the funds.  Craig went on ahead to meet with Phil from Plantation and by 10:30am I joined them with the cheque hot off the press!

The hand-over appointment was pretty intensive .... walking through the house, reporting on any problems, defects etc and learning how to use the gas water system, rainwater tank and air con.  Phil came away with a couple of pages of things we wanted fixed ..... but nothing major.  Mostly surrounding further paint touch ups.

By 12:30pm the keys were handed over and we were presented with a lovely gift pack of towels from Plantation Homes.  Craig and I then set to and got our first load of things from Elly Circuit.

Finally Our Dream Home is ours!

Carpet Down!

I called into site today although they had finished for the day, I was able to see that the carpet had been put down and looks really good.

The air conditioning units have also been put in.

On looking through the window of the ensuite, the plumber is obviously still having some trouble with the tap fittings as yet again the tiles have been taken off!  ..... I am sure the tilers will be thrilled with having to return yet again! ..... Luckily that is our Project Managers problem to deal with.

We also got some great news that PH have agreed to fix the mirror issue at no extra cost to ourselves ..... very happy!

The Valuer is scheduled to visit tomorrow and we have received our Final Inspection Form 21.  So we are all on track for the handover on Tuesday!

We have the movers booked for the Wednesday, the cleaners for the Thursday and the carpet cleaners on the Friday ... it's all go.  Still trying to sort out someone to install our appliances (the waiting game of getting people to call me back!).

Pre-handover Walkthrough

Today we met with our building supervisor for a walk through of the house to point out any issues that needed seeing to before our handover on 11 March.  The majority of issues were surrounding paintwork where other services had damaged and all areas were marked by Phil.

We also discussed the issue we had with the ensuite mirror being much too small and it sounds like PH are going to sort it at no cost to ourselves ..... fingers crossed!

We got to view the shelving that had been installed earlier in the week and it looks fantastic!  Really pleased with the space in both linen cupboards!

The block had also been tidied up outside and all rubbish removed .... getting close now!
